“Calories matter. Burn calories. Eat calories. Achieve your adventure goals.”
It is popular thinking around outdoor meals that nutrition is a long-term thing, and really it is going to take far longer to make any type of lasting impact on your body than most backpacking trips last.
As food-loving Italians who work in fields requiring scientific precision, we’re here to challenge this mindset.
Exposed to a stressful endeavor, our body switches to an emergency mode to cope with new environmental, physical, and mental factors.
And food matters in more ways than one
On an expedition at a high altitude, for example, there is more to a meal than spicing up a bunch of calories to counteract the taste change.
You are away from home, from anything comfortable and familiar for days, weeks, or months on end. Meal fatigue starts to kick in, where just the thought of eating the same tasteless, pre-packed food over and over starts to make you feel ill.
Much like space food, adventure food is not only required to be nutritious, it must also be appetizing.
We would argue that’s not even enough: it must be gourmet
The food we take along can become the key factor that determines if we enjoy our trek and if we succeed in the end, so we wanted to capture the freshness, comfort and joy of the Dolce Vita in our quick meals.
That’s why we have invested the last 3.5 years in looking for the best ingredients to create a line of lip-smacking delicacies specifically tailored to the adventurer’s needs.
