“Big Breaks Happen When You Keep Growing”
– Lessons of a Turtle

Everyone loves a launch and a touchdown moment!  But while reaching the final destination is great, today I want to raise a toast to the journey itself, complete with all its ups and downs.

In comparison to the highlight reel of us waving the flag high, signalling that we came, saw, and conquered, the rocky road to victory is sometimes not shown.

There is however immense beauty in the journey,  with all of its glamorous and not-so-glamorous parts. It could be the long hours of training and the arduous preparation, or the rigor of doing the actual work. Or perhaps those difficult phases where we are learning by trial and error, encountering new, unforeseen challenges, having to pivot suddenly, and muster the courage and resources to go again.

The course unfolds with each step you take, and maybe that’s the true magic of an adventure.

An astronaut’s journey is at its core a road to unending discovery.  Each leg is met with humble curiosity and an eagerness to learn and build on past lessons. In the pursuit of uncommon progress, the astronaut sacrifices personal comfort and risks unthinkable losses.  Such a journey requires months of disciplined preparation and tremendous physiological and mental resilience. Operating in the deep unknown that is outer space is not for the faint of heart!

If you are a trailblazer, a leader, a high-performing adventurer, or a first of any kind, you know all too well that the bumpy path to success is not for the weak.

An astronaut has become for us at EAT freedom a symbol of grit and for staying the course. That upward trajectory into outer space is a metaphor for mastering our own personal hero’s journey, the part where we move through challenges to achieve our goals.

Like our space adventurers, you and I are surrounded by the gigawatt energy of possibility. Much like our modern-day Samantha Cristoforetti and the legendary Amelia Erhart, the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic, our inner, personal super-hero is standing ready to move us forward, one step at a time.

So, here’s to keeping moving: Enjoy what unfolds!
